Sunil Tingre, linked to Pune Porsche case, loses from Vadgaon Sheri

Sunil Tingre, a leader from Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar-led NCP, who was linked to the Pune Porsche crash, has lost to NCP (SP) candidate Bapu Saheb Pathare from Vadgaon Sheri by a margin of 4,710 votes.
Tingre, who was the sitting MLA from the seat, was linked to the Porsche crash which occurred earlier this year when a Porsche driven by a 17-year-old minor knocked down two IT professionals, Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, both 24, who were on their bike.
He had arrived at a police station in Pune where the minor and the driver were taken after the incident. He was accused of shielding them. The NCP leader had refuted such allegations and was questioned by the police in connection with the case.
In the 2019 Assembly polls, Tingre had won from the seat by defeating BJP candidate Jagdish Mulik by a margin of 4,975 votes.
NCP is a part of the Mahayuti alliance that stormed to power in Maharashtra, comfortably crossing the 145-majority mark. The BJP won 132 seats, while the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena got 57. The NCP ended up with 41.
On the other hand, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which had hoped to capitalise on its impressive Lok Sabha election performance, crashed to an embarrassing defeat. The Shiv Sena (UBT) managed just 20 seats, followed by Congress 16 and Sharad Pawar’s NCP got 10.
